A fellow walking around in the middle of the night on private property seems a bit more suspicious to me than folks parking.Maybe you a disgruntled campgrounds owner wanting to scalp 30 bucks per vehicle.Either way, not a law in the land can prohibit parking in a parking lot particularly with permission of the owner of the property. Now go to bed.

I like doing rest areas myself and even with the highway noise for some reason they seem quieter than a walmart that is open all night. I have even done the park in a business lot on Saturday nights and have not had a problem. The trick is to park it there like it belongs there. If there is a overhead garage door park in front of it, after all how many businesses are open on Sundays. If you park in the middle of the lot it is more likely you will have a wakeup knock at your door.

not all Wal-marts will allow over night campers it depends on the city ordinances

well, yeah, wal-mart policy states that people may use their parking lots to park over night because the man who started and established wal-mart was an RVer himself. duh
